The research and conceptual composition poured into every Ikotka release makes my head spin. As if listening to the music and reading interviews wasn't compelling enough, this artist now has a Patreon page. I admire artists who're willing to discuss some of the thoughts and history behind their work, and in this case I think it's hugely generous of this artist to put forth such an intricate web of concepts and be willing to share them with Ikotka's listeners. I'll admit... I'm kind of a secret ambient geek. Like from the old school of Eno & T. Dream to 90's Aphex Twin and The Orb... the right ambient music can take the pain away. I love that Ikotka can turn their musical themes inward to produce beauty from the harrowing melodies of the funeral triptych. If you are new to the band's music, you can definitely buy this first but I would suggest buying Ikotka's entire discography and listen in order to get the full impact of this album. Nice.
